9 Movie Review ^^ + Coraline Book! =D

Sun Sep 27, 2009, 8:25 AM
I finally convinced my mom to watch 9 with me after showing some clips from Youtube, and we both loved it. She kept saying how 1 reminded her of the pope and how he just sits on his ass and does nothing. :XD: But in the end he makes up for it, which took a ton off me, and probably my mom. :XD: She loved the twins, 3 and 4. They were freakin' cute! =D I think my fav stitch-punks were everyone, though not too much on 8 and 1. xP The story was very inspiring and tragic, and it seemed like it took place after World War I or II or something, 'cause of most of the things I saw that seemed a bit too primitive for our time. No one knew WHERE it took place until my mom said "OMG They're in Paris, France. Look there's Notre Dame!" I looked hard while the stitch-punks were getting away from that Winged Beast, and I was like "... Holy shit it is! Or what's left of it." :XD: So Notre Dame was their hide-out. Cool. =P

!!SPOILERS!!

The deaths in the movie were sad and slightly disturbing, especially 2's death. At his funeral I was close to crying, and amazed at how they treated his body with such love and care. :( I described him as a "high-spirited ol' chap". :aww: And I saw how he and 5 had a slight father/son relationship, very sweet. :) Then there was 6. OMG He was adorable in his own crazy and curious way. =D Not too mention brave, 'cause even when he was about to get his soul sucked out, he told 9 to "go back to the source", and that the souls of the stitch-punks who died were trapped in the Fabrication Machine (B.R.A.I.N.). I won't go any further 'cause it's complicated.

!! END OF SPOILERS!!

I considered 5 and 9 like brothers, not easy to explain, but I felt a brotherly bond between them. 7 was such an awesome spitfire, I always thought of how she was like Coraline. :XD: If I were asked which one of the stitch-punks reminded me of Wybie, I'd say either 5 or 6. 5, 'cause he's a nervous but kind heart. And 6 because he was so strange, and I felt bad at how isolated he was, though he didn't really seem to mind. My opinion, but that's how I image them. :aww: And about 9, well, he's courageous, curious, and as my mom put it, always seemed to kinda rush things and jump. :XD: There was a scene when curiosity gets the better of him which led to the loss of a life and the reawakening of a monster that was long dead, and my mom asked me of that was the only dumb thing he did in the movie. :XD: I said, "First of all, even if he didn't do it, the Cat Beast would've done it and 2 would've been lost anyway. And second of all, yes." The only thing I had to complain was the constant scraping against metal to metal. It made me and my mom cringe. :XD: The ending was very sweet too. Before I saw the movie, I saw it's based-on short film by the same director, and was amazed and touched by it. I was so happy when the souls of the stitch-punks who never made it to the end were freed. Very touching. :aww:

OMFG I finally got my hands on NEIL GAIMEN'S CORALINE!! =D Though with the movie cover 'cause my mom didn't like the original cover. :XD: I didn't really either, so I bought the other one for about... 7.50, not a bad deal really. :aww: I read the entire thing after 1 night and the whole morning to the afternoon (170 pages, really short yet awesome), and wow Coraline seems and acts more older and calmer then in the movie. And for a kids' novel, it was kinda dark. But I support how kids can handle this kind of stuff. :aww: People weren't kidding when they said she's more of a spaz in the movie then in the book. :XD: In short, I really enjoyed the book, even if the awesome Wybie and adorable Other Wybie weren't there.

Oh, and I LOLed at how a children's best-selling novel ended up in the "Teen's" section instead. :XD:

*Snorts* You and me both. Usually you get things the second time, so after watching it twice it became my all time fav movie at that time 'till Coraline came up. Now it's up to second. Then there's 9. :XD:
